MONITORING DEGU ACTIVITY

The combination of one magnet and three reed switches provides the microcontroller with
all the input it needs to determine how fast and in which direction Cheech is running in his wheel.

After a  trip to the shop and a bit of drilling and tapping, I now have three aluminum blocks to hold the three Reed Switches.

A scrap of Plexiglas became a holder for the blocks.  A CAD program made layout for the Plexiglas plate simple.

A few minutes laying out the position of things, printed 1:1 scale, center punched and drilled.

Up next:  PIC hardware to "listen to" the Reed Switches.
