IMPORTANT!
ELECTRICAL SAFETY:
Electrical experiments such as this one are
relatively safe,
but safety and common sense are still critical.
This project will be charging a battery.
Almost any battery has the potential to start a fire if it is short-circuited.
DON'T DO IT!
The voltages used here are generally harmless,
but the rectifier circuit did achieve over 70 volts
when I spun the motor by
hand with no load attached.
Voltages over about 20 volts carry the possibility
of an electric shock or even
death.
If you don't know what you are doing with
Electricity,
get the assistance of someone who does BEFORE tragedy strikes.
ANIMAL SAFETY:
Privately conducted semi-scientific experiments such as this one can be fun and educational.
When working with animals, it is of utmost importance to ensure the safety of the animal at all times.
Hurting animals isn't science. It isn't funny. It isn't cool. DON'T DO IT.
We are absolutely against all experiments
conducted by individuals
which in any way place the animal in discomfort, danger
or harm.
Our experiment here is designed to utilize a
behavior which the animal enjoys, running in his wheel.
We feel that the
experiment will in no way harm the Degu, and may have a measure of health
benefit to him.
Our test subject, Cheech the Degu is not forced to run in the wheel, he does it of his own free will.
Should you decide to conduct your own animal
experiments,
we ask that you see to the animal's health, safety and comfort
foremost.
Thank You.
